As if the Oscars weren’t the subject of enough controversy already this year, the contents of the annual nominees gift bag have now been revealed.
This year, those with a chance of taking home a coveted prize will also be given the privilege of taking home over $200,000 (£138,000) worth of gifts.
According to the Independent, this year’s party bags will contain such treats as aVampire Breast Lift, an ‘arouser’ (just for the female contestants) and a 10-day trip to Israel worth $55,000 (£38,000).
Describing the gift bag, the Academy said:
Once again it is a blend of fabulous, fun and functional items meant to thrill and pamper those who may have everything money can buy but still savour the simple joy of a gift.
So, the academy as ‘on point’ as ever then…
Other prizes include a year’s worth of unlimited Audi car rentals worth $45,000 (£32,000), a 15-day walking tour of Japan worth $45,000 (£32,000) a laser skin-tightening procedure costing $5,300 (£3,700) and a Haze Dual V3 Vaporiser (a consolation for Leo?)
Just to clear things up, the Vampire Breast Lift is a procedure that uses ‘blood-derived growth factor’ injections to give you a rounder cleavage without implants – so that’s nice.
The gift bags only go to nominees in the main categories – so all the people who worked tirelessly off screen to actually bring the performances to the audience won’t be getting anything quite as nice as all that.
Mind you, having blood injected into your breasts doesn’t really sound that great…
