Facebook And Instagram Are Banning Private Gun Sales On Their Sites

The madness could finally be over, as Facebook has announced it will ban private guns sales on its site following pressure from President Barack Obama for stricter firearms control.

The ban will also apply to Instagram and will stop the networks being used to conduct gun sales between private individuals, reports the Telegraph.

The new rule was brought in after Obama bypassed the U.S. congress to bring in tougher background checks for gun ownership following a series of deadly mass shootings.

Trump decided to skip Thursday night’s final Republican presidential debate on Fox, but Colbert wasn’t about to let him get away that easily, and instead oversaw his own ‘All-You-Can-Trump’ debate.

The all-Trump debate features intercut footage of Donald Trump’s various wildly contradictory statements over the years, and demonstrates just how much this guy has flip-flopped on his attitudes in order to win votes.

And the debate is fierce – while Donald believes that ‘nobody likes’ Ted Cruz, Trump says, ‘I like Ted Cruz a lot’.

While Donald ‘loves’ Iowa, Trump asks, ‘How stupid are the people of Iowa?’ By the way, he made those particular statements just two months apart, according toVox. Awkward.

Believe it or not, he actually he even apparently used to like Hillary Clinton and Megyn Kelly. Who knew?

It’s almost as if Trump changes his opinions on a regular basis whenever it suits him. Weird…

Steven Avery’s New Lawyer Reveals How She Plans To Prove His Innocence

It looks like there could yet be one more twist in the tale of Making A Murderersubject Steven Avery and his bid to prove his innocence.

Avery was sentenced to life in prison without parole in 2007 for the murder of Teresa Halbach, but the smash-hit Netflix documentary has brought renewed interest in his case, with many believing he is innocent and calling for a retrial.

On Friday, NBC’s Dateline aired an episode dedicated to the case and the developments since the documentary finished, and the show featured an appearance from Avery’s new lawyer Kathleen Zellner, who explained how she plans to exonerate her client.

According to Business Insider, Zellner said she believes advances in forensic testing could be the key to proving Avery’s innocence – just as it was with his wrongful imprisonment from 1985 to 2003 for sexual assault.

Speaking in her first TV interview since taking the case, Zellner said:

Generally, since 2007, there have been significant advances in forensic testing. The clearest way to do this is with scientific testing. Am I going to tell you exactly what it is? I am not. But it’s been a long time. There was a lot of evidence that wasn’t tested.

Zellner, who has also been pretty vocal on social media since taking on Avery’s case, added on NBC’s Today show this morning that she expects to have the results from those forensic tests within the month, at which point things will get very interesting indeed.

Avery’s former attorney Dean Strang was also featured on the Dateline special, reiterating his belief that Avery is innocent.

He added:

From the evidence I’ve looked at I think he is innocent. I think he certainly was not guilty beyond a reasonable doubt under the evidence that was presented.

We can’t help but wonder if those in the Manitowoc County Police Department are sweating a little bit after this latest development in the case.

This Guy Has Explained How Every Adam Sandler Movie Is Connected

Shawn Kohne seriously knows his Adam Sandler films. Perhaps too well. Definitely too well.

He has gone to some lengths – some extreme lengths – in his quest to show how every Adam Sandler movie is connected.

According to Mashable, it all started while Shawn was watching 50 First Dates and noticed that a line connected the film to another Sandler movie, Tommy Boy – and the Sandlerverse was born.

Shawn told Mashable in an email:

After that it was just the process of literally watching EVERY Sandler and Happy Madison Production looking for connections.

After posting his video to YouTube and Twitter, Kohne happened to grab the attention of Adam Sandler’s writer, Tim Herlihy.

“Obviously I couldn’t find connections in the movies not mentioned in the video,” Kohne said.

However, he was incredibly excited to hear from Herlihy and had even noted connections between movies that Herlihy hadn’t even considered:

To not only hear from the man, but [for him] to point out something he didn’t even know about…THAT sure does make you feel good.

That’s also why I left the Sandlerverse open for anyone else to add on to it at the end.

As for whether Kohne will continue to make these connections himself, he told Mashable:

There is only so much time I can give to one idea before I actually start to lose my mind, ya know.

This Russian Lawyer Thinks The Tiger-Goat Friendship Is ‘Gay Propaganda’

Remember this incredible video a few months ago when an unlikely friendship blossomed between a tiger and goat?

The clip – which was taken in the Primorsky Safari Park in Russia – saw the big cat refuse to hunt his next meal, leaving staff at the safari park ‘stunned’.

Cupid, the Siberian tiger, was booted out of his shelter by the cheeky goat – later named Timur – who occupied his bed when he entered the enclosure, forcing Cupid onto the roof.

Cue the awws. But not everyone is a fan of this cute tale of friendship and Russian lawyer Alexei Krestianov, from Novosibirsk, is one of them.

In a pretty lengthy rant on Facebook, Krestianov says that all coverage of Timur and Cupid should be banned because it could make kids want to be gay. Just, wow. I have no words.

He actually thinks that all goat/tiger relations coverages falls under Russia’s infamous ‘anti-gay propaganda’ law. His Facebook post is a copy of a letter to the General Prosecutor’s Office in which he calls for future stories to be banned.

Scientists say the deployment of these ‘autonomous weapons’ would represent a dangerous new era in warfare and a real threat to humanity.

Stuart Russell, professor of computer science at University of California, Berkeley told the forum in Davos:

We are talking about autonomous weapons, which means that there is no one behind it. AI: artificial intelligence weapons.

Very precisely, weapons that can locate and attack targets without human intervention.

Around a thousand science and technology chiefs including Stephen Hawking, said in an open letter last July that the development of these weapons could be feasible within years.

They called for a ban warning that the world risked becoming embroiled in an artificial intelligence arms race and suggested the weapons could fall into the hands of violent extremists.

There are also questions about whether the machines would be able to follow the rules of war and if they could tell the difference between civilians and soldiers.

Alan Winfield, professor of electronic engineering at the University of the West of England, warned that the robots may be hard to predict: “When you put a robot in a chaotic environment, it behaves chaotically,” he said.

A mystery sniper has been credited with shooting three of the terror group’s leaders in the Libyan city of Sirte.

In recent weeks, the three commanders in Sirte have been shot dead from long range, according to local media.

According to the Telegraph, the killings are reported to be the work of a sniper who honed his skills in Libya’s uprising against Colonel Gaddafi.

The shootings have allegedly sowed panic among Isil’s forces in the city, who are reported to have carried out numerous arrests and executions in an attempt to find the culprit.

The most recent victim – according to social media reports from Sirte – was Abdullah Hamad Al-Ansari, an ISIL commander who was shot dead on January 23 as he left a mosque.

Sirte has been under Islamic State control since last summer, and intelligence officials estimate there may be up to 2,000 jihadist fighters now based there.

According to the Telegraph, very few of the city’s inhabitants actively support their new hardline rulers and the locals are reported to be relishing the panic the shootings are causing among ISIL’s members.

Legendary BBC broadcaster Sir Terry Wogan has died aged 77, after a short illness, his family has confirmed.

In a statement, Sir Terry’s family, confirming he died after a short cancer battle.

They said:

Sir Terry Wogan died today after a short but brave battle with cancer. He passed away surrounded by his family. While we understand he will be missed by many, the family ask that their privacy is respected at this time.

BBC director general Tony Hall described Sir Terry as a ‘national treasure’.

In November, he had to pull out of presenting the charity fundraiser Children In Need due to health reasons. It was the first time he hadn’t hosted the annual event since it began in 1980.
